Our Guests – who they are
There are estimated to be over 10,000 people sleeping rough in the UK, plus a further 100,000 people in temporary accommodation.
Have you ever wondered why people become homeless? Whilst it is true that some homeless people prefer that way of living, and some have succumbed to substance and alcohol abuse, there are many other factors too, e.g.
- Poverty, caused by a variety of factors, e.g. redundancy
- Lack of affordable housing
- Mental illness
- Abuse, e.g. domestic violence, child abuse
- Changes in relationships, e.g. through adolescence
Others have served their country, e.g. in the armed forces, and upon leaving their vocation have found civilian life difficult to adapt to.
