Making a financial donation
You can make a financial donation online by visiting our Charity website at http://caringinbristol.co.uk/donate/
or by sending us a cheque made payable to Caring in Bristol and sending it to us at Caring in Bristol, The Night Shelter, 14 Little Bishop Street, Bristol. BS2 9JF.
Your donation will support our work to help vulnerable and homeless people in Bristol at Christmas and throughout the year.
Donating practical goods – our wish list
We rely on donations of goods to run the Christmas shelter and to ensure there are enough supplies for our guests throughout the Christmas week and into the New Year. Please contact us if you are unsure if your donation is appropriate for use at the shelter or see the following guidelines on the most needed donations.

We particularly need donations of sugar, ready-made custard, sweet cereals (things like Coco Pops rather than Bran Flakes), biscuits and snacks. We also need fresh produce close to Christmas: meat, bacon, eggs, sausages, butter, cheese etc. We can also take pledges of donations from September (unless it is perishable, in that case phone us) onwards, so if you as an individual or a business would like to contact us to promise a donation please do so on 0117 924 4444 or email us.
We always supply the guests with toiletries and in particular we need donations of the miniture/travel-size bottles of: toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gels, moisturising cream, lip balm and preferably roll-on or stick deodorant (no aerosols). Plus toothbrushes, razors, and women’s sanitary products.
DVDs, Books & Games
We always try to provide the guests with entertainment throughout the week, so if you have any appropriate good quality DVDs, books or board games that you no longer need please donate them to the shelter. If you would like to donate music/DVD store vouchers we can then buy the current titles for the guests to watch over Christmas.
If you have any appropriate good quality clothes that you no longer want please donate them to the shelter. We need warm casual winter clothing for men and women aged 18-40 years such as: jumpers, coats, gloves, scarves, hats, trousers, jeans and trainers. We only accept donations of new underwear. Please make sure clothes are clean and appropriate for our guests and the time of year. This will help cut down on the amount of time we need to spend sorting through clothes we cannot use. If you are unsure please just call the office and ask!
Bedding / towels
We use good quality second hand and new: towels, single sheets, blankets, pillow cases and sleeping bags. If you have any of the above please bring them to the shelter.
We DO NOT use double sheets, duvets or bedspreads.
If you would like to donate practical gifts please bring them to the shelter in St. Pauls, Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. If you would like a more detailed list of items needed, have a large donation of goods to deliver or have any queries please contact the office on 0117 924 4444 or email us.
