What do Volunteers do?Without the volunteers we have, we would not be able to open the shelter over the Christmas period. We need our volunteers to befriend our guests, have a chat and a cup of tea, maybe a game of pool. There is also always plenty of help needed in the Kitchen preparing food, making sandwiches, peeling potatoes, serving the meals, teas and coffees and of course washing up! At times you may be asked to hand out clothes or put some washing through the machine. There is always plenty of cleaning to be done and plates and mugs to be cleared. After everyone is out of bed the dormitory gets a good clean, and beds are changed. Some people prefer to help out behind the scenes and some are happier 'out front', socialising with the guests. We will not ask you to do anything that you are not comfortable with. Back to top of page. |
