Bristol Nightstop is a project run by Caring at Christmas.

Background

  • Established in Bristol in the 1990’s
  • Caring at Christmas took responsibility in January 2006
  • Funded through Trust funds and statutory funding

What do we do?

  • Bristol Nightstop offers emergency accommodation for 16-25 year olds in the homes of vetted volunteer hosts. The young people are referred to Bristol Nightstop via a variety of referral agencies.
  • We provide the following for Young People
    • Own room in the home of vetted volunteers
    • An evening meal and breakfast
    • Bath/shower
    • Laundry Facilities
    • Companionship
    • Advice and information on what to do next
    • Travel expenses, toiletries and pyjamas
  • We provide the following for Volunteer Hosts
    • Recruitment, CRB check, home assessment and training
    • Regular supervision
    • Ongoing support including 24 hour on-call support when young person is staying
    • Host support network and socials
    • Handbook which outlines policies and procedures
  • We provide the following for Referral agencies
    • Training on the referral process
    • Free accommodation for young people
    • Information and literature on Nightstop
    • The opportunity to provide feedback
