Bristol Nightstop is a project run by Caring at Christmas.
Background
- Established in Bristol in the 1990’s
- Caring at Christmas took responsibility in January 2006
- Funded through Trust funds and statutory funding
What do we do?
- Bristol Nightstop offers emergency accommodation for 16-25 year olds in the homes of vetted volunteer hosts. The young people are referred to Bristol Nightstop via a variety of referral agencies.
- We provide the following for Young People
- Own room in the home of vetted volunteers
- An evening meal and breakfast
- Bath/shower
- Laundry Facilities
- Companionship
- Advice and information on what to do next
- Travel expenses, toiletries and pyjamas
- We provide the following for Volunteer Hosts
- Recruitment, CRB check, home assessment and training
- Regular supervision
- Ongoing support including 24 hour on-call support when young person is staying
- Host support network and socials
- Handbook which outlines policies and procedures
- We provide the following for Referral agencies
- Training on the referral process
- Free accommodation for young people
- Information and literature on Nightstop
- The opportunity to provide feedback
